Before today I would tell anyone who ever spoke of bridge jumping, "Don't do it! People die from doing that you know!" And it's true, people do
when they jump off the bridge into a high current. Now that is just plain dumb. Today, the current was pretty still and the more the guys were telling us girls to go jump, my adrenaline started to run and I was no longer little miss negative nancy. The second I stood on the edge of the bridge my legs started to shake. I was nervous. Do I really want to do this? I look over to my girls and they look scared as well. Two of them had done it before but, just because you've done it once does not mean that it gets easier every time. We are all preparing to jump and none of us is really prepared to do it. Finally, we all hold hands, count to three, and jump. I swear to you that that fall was the longest fall
of.my.life. I jumped and I screamed for half a second and my stomach dropped. It felt like forever until we hit the water. It was not fun. The water was actually not that cold and the current started to take abby and I away but we made it to rocks with no problems. So, what do you do after bridge jumping for the first time? You want to go again. This time my legs were shaking even more and I really didn't want to do it. I stood next to abby again and we both talked about how long that fall was. I seriously almost turned around and got off but, with everyone saying to just do it, I gave in. I screamed almost the entire way down haha. It was fun!! But...the current took me farther away from the rocks and I got to a farther end point then the first time around. I was pretty scared though when I realized that me swimming to the rocks wasn't really working. I'm so glad I did it! We then had a bonfire and talked to one another. I got to have a great bonding experience with the girls tonight ;) one with just abby and then another with all of us girls together. Love them.
Note to self: Don't go bridge jumping when the current is really high. The water was safe today and even though it did catch me, I was able to swim out of it because it wasn't that strong. Usually, the currents in Rexburg are pretty high and this entire semester they have been. SO. Be smart on when you choose to jump the bridge. Seriously.
