I love reading emails from my friends on missions - especially from my girlfriends on missions! Today I had the chance to wake up to Lara's email and then to end my night with Sara's email. In Sara's email she mentioned a talk from Elder Bednar that I thought was really relevant to what Abby and I discussed tonight.
"We watched a talk from Bednar about the Holy Ghost and it was so amazing!! He touched on the question, 'how do we know if it is the spirit or just my own thoughts?' and his advice was 'Just stop worrying! if you are doing what you are supposed to then your thoughts will most likely be in line with the thoughts of the Holy Ghost, so if you get a thought or prompting, just act on it."
Abby and I had a girl's sesh tonight. We opened up on what has been on our minds and leaned on each other for answers. I don't know if I helped her get any answers but she sure helped me. If there is one thing that I got from tonight is that I need to not worry what other people are going to think of me, I need to worry about what my Heavenly Father thinks of me. He knows me for who I am and He knows that whatever decision I make is done with Him, whether the rest of the world realizes it or not. Sometimes you need to make the decision in your mind and then go to Him to figure out whether it's right or not. And no, Heavenly Father doesn't always answer your prayers on command. Sometimes it can take days, weeks, months, or even years. Trust me, I know from experience. I used to always wonder why my family never joined the church when I was 13 years old and I later realized why when they finally did back in 2008 when I was 17. I used to wonder why I wasn't suppose to go to Walt DisneyWorld to do my internship during last winter and now I know why. I used to wonder why I was suppose to change my major and now I know because of the knowledge I've gained on the family in all the classes I have now taken. Sometimes we just need to move forward with life in order to find those answers. We can't sit still and wait for them because we won't get them. I need to make my decisions based on what I feel is right and Heavenly Father won't lead me astray. He may lead me a little off course so I can learn something on the way but he will always guide me back into the right direction.
Abby, you are a daughter of God. Heavenly Father knows you and cherishes the relationship you have with Him. He knows your struggles, your worries, your pains, your happiness, everything. He knows that whatever decision you make will always be one that is well thought out. Don't worry about what others want you to do, worry about what your Heavenly Father wants you to do. You are so in-tuned with the spirit that I know you will find answers, direction, and peace.
♥ The Girl Who Will Miss Having A Roommate For 7 Weeks

"...This life is made up of little things-little things that count a great deal. I believe that the little things are of great importance in our relationship with ourselves, in our relationship with others, and in our relationship with God." - Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin

- I'm just your typical girl who loves to lay around in sweats, a messy bun and spend quality time with those she loves. I've learned that it's the little things in life that makes it so beautiful. Even when life gets hard, little things like a smile or a simple "I love you" can make all the difference. I truly believe in this. Never think that your life doesn't matter - it does. It matters for eternity. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And I am a Christian.

"You can't live your life worrying that the world is staring at you. When you let people's opinions make you self-conscious you give away your power. . . . The key to feeling confident is to always listen to your inner self—[the real you.]" And in the kingdom of God, the real you is "more precious than rubies." -jeffery r. holland
