"...This life is made up of little things-little things that count a great deal. I believe that the little things are of great importance in our relationship with ourselves, in our relationship with others, and in our relationship with God." - Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin

- I'm just your typical girl who loves to lay around in sweats, a messy bun and spend quality time with those she loves. I've learned that it's the little things in life that makes it so beautiful. Even when life gets hard, little things like a smile or a simple "I love you" can make all the difference. I truly believe in this. Never think that your life doesn't matter - it does. It matters for eternity. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And I am a Christian.

Writing History.
If there is one thing I look forward to do every Sunday it is to write in my journal. At school, it's hard to keep up with it because so much is going on and you can never find that quite time to do it...but I count my notes I take at church to be my journal while I'm at school. I love writing in journals. I can't count how many I've had...or sadly, how many I've lost throughout the years with moving. But, I've been able to find some and I hold those journals close to my heart. I have written down, in my very own handwriting, my first year at Girls Camp. I have recorded when I bore my testimony for the first time. I have moments to where I had my first date, first "real" boyfriend, how many guys I kissed in middle school, etc. It's all there and ready to be shared. Will I have to scratch out some things in my journal...yes. Maybe tear out a few pages haha and I know, it will drive my kids crazy because they'll want to know what it was that I wrote that I couldn't share them but...it'll be for their best interest. I promise ;)
Someone once told me that our ordinary lives will be extraordinary one day. I find that to be so true. I want to continue writing in a journal for however long I can. I want to have a journal with just me and my hubby for our children. Every night, write a little something. Even if it is just to let them know how much we love them. I want a journal to pass down to them. Ever since I joined the church I've felt a sense of responsibility to provide the information to my future generations who will be eager to learn about me. I am the pioneer in the family and I need to do my best in not only gathering stories about me but also about the rest of my immediate family. We are the first generation in the church, regardless that they are inactive now. They can't erase what has happened. Just like Elder Eyring mentioned in his talk Our Perfect Example when Elder Orson F. Whitney gave a promise to the faithful parents who honor the temple sealing to their children: "Though some of the sheep may wander, the eye of the Shepherd is upon them, and sooner or later they will feel the tentacles of Divine Providence reaching out after them and drawing them back to the fold." What a promise.
Writing down your trials, heartaches, joys, pains, the funny moments, all of those things that make you the person you are...will help your kids and future generations know the person you were and the person that you will soon become.

My dad did exactly what you were talking about. Well it started out him and my mom would write in this journal for me, keep track of my growth, share little stories about something I did that day, but then my mom kind of stopped writing but my dad kept it up. He gave it to me on my 20th birthday. It has been such a blessing. It has been so much fun to read but hard at the same time. It wasn't all good things I did so some of the things were hard to relive, especially reading my dad's thoughts and feelings about those things. But it has brought us so close. You should definitely do it! i'm going to keep a journal for my kids!
