I'll admit...I kind of hate when people text Merry Christmas to me on Christmas. I know, call me scrooge but when I'm trying to sleep and my phone goes off 5 different times and wake me up? Haha it does not make me happy! But this year...I got the most sincere Merry Christmas texts ever. One in particular was from one of my home teachers this Fall semester, Nick Rock.
"Hi Olivia this is your old home teacher Nick Rock. Last night my family was sharing examples of people who have the spirit of Christmas. I told them about your story and your decision to serve a mission. Thank you for your example and good luck on your mission. Your mission experience will be better than your most exaggerated of expectations could anticipate if you do your best."
Now, mind you, I did not have his number saved in my phone and so when I first got the text I instantly felt bad because it was probably going to be a nice text from someone I purposely deleted from my phone over the years. No, it was someone I knew and truly looked up to and was so grateful to have as a home teacher for my last semester {{crossing fingers still!}} at BYUI. Thank you Nick for your wonderful example and strong spirit you brought with you everywhere. I'll never forget the sincere, thoughtful talk you gave at church this past semester. You were always a good listener when I just needed to blab about pointless stuff. So, thank YOU.
