Can I just say that I love dating!! If you follow me on my blog...you would of already known that haha but seriously, dating is so much fun! I love being asked out on dates and being treated. It's just a great way to meet people!
I think for me, the main reason why I love dating is because I'm not going to know the type of guy I want to marry someday if I don't go on dates. My "type" of guy constantly changes because of the different guys I meet while dating. It is so weird! President Uchtdorf gave an AMAZING talk on dating during Fall Semester during a CES Fireside. Here are just some of the things he said that really stuck out the most to me...
"There is no 'one mister right'."
"If someone can accept my imperfections then I must be patient with others."
"That 'magic' in relationships needs constant re-polishing. It happens because the two made it happened."
"Once you commit to marriage, your spouse becomes your soul mate and you need to start that commitment. Your soul mate searching ends and your soul mate making is created."
"Just because you've been rejected doesn't mean to be sad."
"Men...the secret to finding the perfect girl is to date lots of girls"
"Hanging out in groups is good but a great way to get to know someone is to talk to someone alone."
I think another reason I love going on dates is because every guy is different. Every guy has a different way of presenting themselves, good and bad. I honestly think the first date is one of the most important dates. Now, that doesn't mean to go all out but, making sure you hold the door open for your date, make conversation, and be real are the three things that I look for on a first date. I'm always nervous when I go on a date with a guy for the first time and sometimes don't completely act myself. But, if a guy is able to take my shyness away...it really helps out. I know you boys get nervous too but...we really do rely on you!
One thing that I used to worry about was whether I'll get married one day or not. I know some AMAZING woman who are getting up there in age and are not married. Now, they are seriously amazing! It worries me haha. But, President Uchtdorf also said this...
"However...some don't get married. Your Father in Heaven knows you. You are righteous. Do not wait for someone else to make your life complete. Use your gifts to bless others. Magnify your calling! Be faithful and things will work out for you."
I love the one part where he says, "Do not wait for someone else to make your life complete." I think that is so true! That is something that we should all do and follow. If we truly need someone in our life to make us happy...something is wrong with you. Not to sound rude but it's true. You should already be a happy person! If you love yourself, then you'll never have to worry about this.
"You're more irresistible than you realize. Assuming a persona will just make you deeply uncomfortable, and your date will sense that. Learn to love who you are and someone else will do the same." - My horoscope from February"
