Did you know that about 80% change their major at least once? On average, college students change their major three times over the course of their college career. Who would of thought that I would be a part of that percentage. Yup. I changed I major.
I remember growing up, I wanted to be so many different things. I wanted to be a veterinarian until I found out that part of my job was putting animals to sleep. I wanted to be a dentist until I realized that I didn't want to have bad breath going directly up my nose. I also wanted to be a nurse but didn't want to take the time to learn about the body. So, I went for Elementary Education. I felt that it was something that I could easily do. I love children and I love to teach so I figured be an Elementary School teacher was the best bet for me!
Today I went to my Child210 class. I didn't learn anything specifically about the course but my teacher told us what we were going to learn. We were going to learn about Child Development. We were going to learn about the different behaviors of children, why they act a certain way, etc. It was so interesting to me! It was then in class that I asked myself, "Do I really want to still be an Elementary School teacher?" The whole class period I was thinking about that and then all of a sudden, a certain paragraph in my Patriarchal Blessing came to my mind. For some reason, I just ignored it, packed up, and headed for my next class. My next class was science and it was then that I realized that there was no way in HECK I was going to take that class and pass! So, I lied (I know, kind of hypocritical at a church school) and told my teacher I was sick because I really just wanted to go the advising office. So I left and went straight to the office. When it was my turn to get help and the guy asked me why I was here, I honestly didn't really know. I told him how I was interested in Child Development but wasn't sure if I want to give up Elementary School teaching. He asked me how long I was thinking about it and I told him about 3 hours lol. But once we started looking into the major...the same paragraph came to my mind from my Patriarchal Blessing and I knew that it wasn't just a coincidence. Afterward, I went straight home and read my Patriarchal Blessing and just felt like I was doing the right thing. My new major actually made sense!
I'm really excited about my new major! Although I've been super stressed about it all day trying to get new classes and books and trying to delete classes and return books...I know it is all going to be worth it :)

- I'm just your typical girl who loves to lay around in sweats, a messy bun and spend quality time with those she loves. I've learned that it's the little things in life that makes it so beautiful. Even when life gets hard, little things like a smile or a simple "I love you" can make all the difference. I truly believe in this. Never think that your life doesn't matter - it does. It matters for eternity. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And I am a Christian.
