"...This life is made up of little things-little things that count a great deal. I believe that the little things are of great importance in our relationship with ourselves, in our relationship with others, and in our relationship with God." - Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin

I'm just your typical girl who loves to lay around in sweats, a messy bun and spend quality time with those she loves. I've learned that it's the little things in life that makes it so beautiful. Even when life gets hard, little things like a smile or a simple "I love you" can make all the difference. I truly believe in this. Never think that your life doesn't matter - it does. It matters for eternity. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And I am a Christian.
I'm a Mormon.

2 Years

Today is my two-year mark of being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is so weird to think that I have only been a member for two years. I feel like I've been a member for about six years now since I was investigator for four years. Either way, it still amazes me how I am a member of this true church. When I was young and investigating, becoming Mormon was my dream! Never did I thought I would follow through with the dream or that my family would become members the weekend after me.

I reflected on my baptism a lot today. I remember how I went to two wards of church the Sunday I got baptized. It was fast and testimony meeting and for some reason, I didn't bear my testimony in my home ward. I remember by not doing so, I was starting to gain doubt, fear, confusion, and second thoughts. I kept having these feelings for the remainder of church. After church was done, I pleaded with my parents asking if I could stay for the next ward so I can take care of some business. They allowed me to and it was then at that ward, I was able to bear my testimony. Once I did, I had a strong confirmation that what I was going to do that evening was the right thing to do.

Another thing I remembered was Paul. Haha I had the BIGGEST crush on Paul at my baptism. He was one of my witnesses which was special to me because he was the only person that came up to me and told me that if I needed any help with my baptism, he was willing to help. As I was about to enter the fount, I was SO NERVOUS! It wasn't that I was starting to have second thoughts but it was just the fact that at that very moment, my life was about to change. Right before I walked in the fount, I looked up and saw Paul looking over towards me. He gave me a simple smile which to this day, I will never forget. That simple smile took away all of the nerves and helped prepare me to enter the fount. Also, after my baptism I probably hugged Paul 20+ times haha! I used every excuse in the book just so I could steal a hug from him. I think he was still dating his girlfriend at the time but lol I couldn't help myself. He was so stinkin cute!

Ariel Thexton did a musical number at my baptism. She sang, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives". In the middle of the song where it was just the piano playing, we both looked up at each other and mouthed "I love you" at the exact same time! We then started to laugh to each other because what were the odds that that would happen! She has one of the most beautiful voice I've ever heard and so I was so grateful that she was willing to sing at my baptism.

I'm so grateful for this church in my life. I know without it, I would not be the person I am today.

  1. That is so sweet, Olivia. I'm so happy for you and for your membership in the church :) You've touched so many lives because of where you are right now in your life. Think about it- you wouldn't be at BYU-Idaho unless you were a member, right? Now think about how many people you've met- most likely, you've influenced all of their lives in one way or another. I know you're testimony has always been a strength to me. You're always willing to go up and bear it. I love that. :)
